Thoughts? Worth the $?

If just for the looks of it I say so.

That looks mean except for the pink pompom.  Is it your wifes :-)

I just picked up a bow last year to start hunting with it and found the Hoyt Rampage XT was the best fit for me so I wouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg to get started.  It's hard to get started and set up with the equipment for under a grand so I didn't have a lot of options.  How much does that Bowtech cost?  Have you shot it yet?

Actually I am in the same bucket as you only I don't have any bows. Only guns. Found this pick online and posted it to get the ball rolling. From what I hear Bowtech created that weird pully system so they are probably a brand to watch.

You are right though, getting going under 1K is tough.

Speaking of that...I think winners of previous contest should have 30 day cool down period before they can win again. <smirks>

Sorry man, I would love to win that bow.!

the pic below is either the destroyer 340 or the 350. The Assassin is an awesome shooting bow.

I don't know much about bows but it sure looks sharp. Only 20 away from the 500 members in the drawing.

The Assassin is a great Bow. Bowtech in general has been making great gear. I use Quest for personal reasons but would drag this along as a secondary any time.

For what it is worth, I have decided for my first compund bow I will be going with Bowtech.

I looked at Mathews for a long time and really like the way they feel. However, I got to handle the Assassin a bit and I simply can't get away from the aesthetics of it.

It also is about half the price of the Mathews, which might say something also, but for a first buy and not really knowing if I will stick with it I don't see any other contenders.

The PSE bows I handled were twice the weight of the Bowtech, otherwise I would have gone with them. Is it me, but is it hard to find an all black bow now a'days?

Anyways, from what I have been reading the first thing is to get a new rest and a sight. For the rest I will go with QAD and the sight I think a spot hog. Depends on the cool factor and gadgets. Unlike rifle scopes, bow sights seem fairly straight forward. All about milling and options,... right??

Besides my love for PSE I would have to agree.

Are you going to work on your own custom build or buy a package?

Related but unrelated...How's the pro staff work?  You test equipment, give support to hunters?  Just wondering because I'll see people with pro staff under their name and I always wondered what the criteria was.

Thanks!

You put in for thier prostaff, then they review paperwork and get back to you. They like to have ppl that are active in everything from hunting to 3D. Then you need to know thier bows top to bottom and be willing to work shows. I did all the above BUT was told there are to many over lapping shooters in area..fun while it lasted. Again a reply a month late.
