Video to come (I think, self shot and not well done). I finally got him. A nice 9 point Blacktail. Archery shot at 15 yards on the ground without a blind. To be fair I was up-hill on a steep slope. Perfect wind. It was all but scripted.

Crazy cool hunt.

Caped & on ice. 65 lbs or so of MEAT in the fridge.

Coyotes are on the bones so I will post more when I am rested. Off to bag a few of those bastards for my dog.

Looking forward to some footage, even if it's fuzzy bigfoot stuff :-)  Congratulations!

Thanks Val. It was the process with this Buck. He outwitted me more than a few times. I would have been happy to let him grow another year or so but hey,.. it got personal. The way I see it, he was harassing me. Not to mention. the Buck in question was a distant reletive to the jerk who malliciously attacked mr.Busybusy's truck! Furthermore, he only showed up when I didn't have my Talk the Walk call,... so that pissed me off even more.

Revenge & war had to be waged.

If we give them an inch, they will take a mile. I say give me venison or give me bacon! ARG!

If you can take a deer with out having to do any calling, using scents or decoys, I'd say that's a perfect hunt. Great job again my friend. Our season starts Oct. 5th and all my stands are hung with care that a nice buck will soon be there. And If not, I'm taking the first doe I see just to fulfill my need to be at full drawl on a white tail. CAN'T WAIT !!!!!

I was inspired by 70% Ninja & 30% Colonel Walter E. Kurtz which ='s 100% on the ground without a blind. Like I said,... twas personal. I wanted to see the whites of his eyes, the observation of incredulity was crucial for me.

Good luck to you on the 5th. As for me, I am back out the next couple days to see if I can fill my last Tag on a real trophy. I have my eyes set on a Mule Deer that has been snooping around. He is a true BEAST of a Deer!

I would still rather be after a Whitetail though.

A neighbor of mine showed me a cam photo of a couple bucks that run around on the public land that is behind mine and his property. :P

I'd say you've got a good spot to set up shop.  Now what season are you going to one in?

Don't know.... I was hoping first muzzleloader 12th-13th Oct, but they (Ohio DNR) changed it to antlerless about a month or so back. So I'm going have to get one during archery season if I'm lucky before the rednecks start sighting their shotguns in November. So you know the ones I refer to as "rednecks" are the ones who shoot at anything that moves during season and take all 3 shots cause they don't know you can kill in one shot and also wait two weeks before gun season and take turns each day to sight in. I'm not kidding it's crazy. It's like two weeks right before youth season they get out there for those two weeks SOLID you can hear shotguns and muzzleloaders being fired off almost every hour, every day till like 2 days before gun season opens up. So I have my fingers crossed.

Another thing I don't like this changing hunting regs on the fly leading up to season. What's up with that Ohio? So if you hunt in Ohio please check the DNR website before every hunt. lol

Hahahahahahahaha.  I hear that A LOT around me too.  A week before shotgun season opens it sounds like there are firefights in the distance in all directions with people sighting in there deer slayers :-)
